Rinnai RBMC-28 explicado
An older grey-screen Rinnai panel: separate 난방 and 온수 buttons, +/− for heating, one hot-water level button, and two small buttons at the bottom (외출 plus 예약 or 절약) that also switch room/floor mode when held together.
¿Qué hace cada botón?
- 1Heating icon · 난방 (표시)nanbangHeating is on. The wavy icon blinks while the burner fires.
- 2Mode words · 온돌 / 외출 (표시)ondol / oechul온돌 = floor-water mode is active (if missing and 실온 shows, you're in room-air mode). 외출 = away mode is on.
- 3Hot water level · 온수 (표시)onsuHot water is on; the bars show the level. Blinks while the hot tap is running.
- 4Heating on/off · 난방nanbangPress to start heating; press again to stop it.
- 5Hot water on/off · 온수onsuPress to switch hot water on; press again to switch it off. Standing by costs no gas.
- 6Heat up · 난방온도 +nanbang ondoRaise the target. Room mode 5–40°C; floor mode 40–85°C water.
- 7Heat down · 난방온도 −nanbang ondoLower the target.

¿Qué ajuste uso?
실온 mode at 22°C; hot water at the middle level. 예약 2 h is a good spring/autumn or overnight setting in floor mode.
¿Cómo…?
Calentar la habitación a una temperatura
- 1Make sure the screen shows 실온 (not 온돌). If it shows 온돌: press 난방 to switch heating off, then hold 외출 + 예약 (or 외출 + 절약) together for 3 seconds. 실온 appears.
- 2Press 난방 to switch heating on.
- 3Press 난방온도 + or − until the set number reads 22.
- 4The 연소 lamp lights while it heats; it goes quiet once the room reaches 22°C.
Modo suelo (ondol)
- 1Press 난방 so heating is OFF.
- 2Hold 외출 + 예약 (or 외출 + 절약) together for 3 seconds until 온돌 shows.
- 3Press 난방, then +/− to about 55–60.
Salir unos días
- 1With heating on, press 외출. 외출 appears on the screen.
- 2The boiler keeps a minimum heat to protect the pipes.
- 3Back home: press 외출 again — normal heating resumes.
Programar
- 1Press 난방 to turn heating on and set your temperature.
- 2Press 예약 (or 절약). Each press: 30 min → 1 h → 2 h → 3 h → 4 h → off.
- 3Cycle = 20 min heating, then rest for the chosen time, repeat.
- 4Cancel: press 예약 again until the timer disappears.
Solo agua caliente (verano)
- 1Press 난방 until the 난방 icon disappears (heating off).
- 2Press 온수 so the 온수 box shows. Hot taps work; rooms are not heated.
Ajustar el agua caliente
- 1With hot water on, press 온수온도 to step the level. More bars = hotter.
- 2Change it with the tap closed — turning it up mid-shower can scald.
Apagar
- 1Press 난방 to stop heating; press 온수 to stop hot water.
- 2In winter prefer 외출 over full off.

Trampas de este modelo
- The room/floor swap only works with heating OFF — hold the two bottom buttons for a full 3 seconds.
- Two print versions exist: 외출 + 예약 (photos 28, 57, 73) and 외출 + 절약 (photos 20, 68, 71). Same layout, same 실온·온돌 bracket.
- In 실온 mode the big number is the CURRENT room temperature; the target shows with '설정' only while adjusting.
- Hot water on and the tap running = floor heating pauses.
- If nothing happens when you press +/−, heating is off — press 난방 first.
¿Sale un código de error?
If the boiler stops and a number blinks on the screen, read the number. 11 = no ignition: check the gas valve on the pipe is open (handle parallel to the pipe), then switch heating off and on. 14 = overheat cut-out: wait up to 30 min, then switch on again. 16 = water overheating: open at least one floor-zone valve on the manifold and bleed air. Anything repeating: call Rinnai A/S 1544-3651.
